In order to steady its diminishing sales and sliding market share, French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen is desperately trying to differentiate its Peugeot and Citroen models. While the Lion brand is going "upstream", with more luxury features, Citroen is going mainstream.
Taking a page out of Nissan's "how to make a crossover" book, Citroen are going to present a compact crossover called the C4 Cactus. It was previewed last year by a concept shown in Paris and will be officially revealed two weeks from now.
The details are hard to make out from under the camo, so we can't tell you if the same "airbumps" Citroen invented for the concept are going to be on the production car. But, the headlights appear to be similar to the C4 Picasso'. If you're a fan of the "it could be a boat" raised crossover look, the Cactus is your dream car.
Citroen C Line boss Pierre Monferrini has previously announced that we "won’t find the 155 horsepower THP engine in the Cactus". Instead, expect a mix of smaller and cheaper units. By the time of its launch, the Cactus could even be the first new Citroen to get the 1.2 THP three-cylinder engine.
While we do know the C4 Cactus will debut on February 5th, we don't know when it will enter production. If we remember correctly, it took them almost a year to start selling the ASX-based C4 Airstream SUV.
