The retro cars are more fashionable than ever, with carmakers squeezing every piece of value they can from their history. The latest development of this kind is rumored to be coming from Peugeot, who is reportedly developing a spiritual successor for the 2CV.
CAR Magazine reports that the vehicle, which will be slotted between the C1 and C3, will use the 3CV designation and could arrive on the market as early as 2013. However, we think Citroen might want to somehow connect it with its DS premium range and thus will offer it a different designation.
The vehicle is expected to ride on the company's PF1 platform and use a hybrid drivetrain.
We'll remind you that, back at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, the French carmaker introduced the Revolte Concept, a vehicle inspired by the 2CV.
The aforementioned source also reports that a storm of new Citroen models is coming , starting with the previously confirmed DS3 Convertible and continuing with a DS4 crossover, as well as a DS6, which will steal some visual moves from the Metropolis concept and replace the C6.
