2010 to 2014 model year Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans are included in the company's latest call-back. According to the manufacturer, all cars have been assembled between August 25th, 2010 and October 31st, 2013.
Simply put, the Chrysler Group has been alerted by warranty data after engineers launched an investigation, finding a link between short circuits and beverage spills on the vent switch.

Extended direct exposure to moisture from rain, snow or even the water used when washing your car may also cause the thrid-row power window switch assembly to overheat, condition which can lead to a short or even vehicle fire.

In total, Chrysler is aware of 36 incidents as a result of this problem, which amounts to 0.005 percent of the vehicles subjected to this call-back campaign. Acording to the automaker, an estimated 644,850 minivans are located in the United States, 106,980 are in Canada; 8,009 in Mexico and 20,638 vehicles are outside the NAFTA region.

The Auburn Hills, Michigan-based manufacturer announced that affected owners may visit dealership service departments after May 14th to have their switches disconnected and repairs scheduled for a later date. Naturally, associated costs will be borne by the company.

Customers that have concerns about their vehicles are advised to contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
