The American manufacturer's Stateside sales volume soared by 17 percent this last month due to the strong demand for the Jeep and Ram brands. May 2014 marks the 50th consecutive month of financial gains for the Chrysler Group.
The best May sales volume since 2007 was propelled mostly by the 58 percent sales increase of Jeep branded products. In fact, this is the off-road carmaker's best sales month ever. Out of the roughly 70,000 vehicles moved, the majority was made up of the all-new Cherokee, Compass and Wrangler, followed by the Patriot and Grand Cherokee models.

Ram sales volume was up 17 percent in May, the truck manufacturer's best May sales since 2005 and 49th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. The Light Duty range moved 14 percent more units, while Heavy Duty truck sales were up 34 percent. As for the Ram ProMaster and Ram Cargo Van, these ultra capable haulers managed to increase their sales volume by 19 percent.

Moving on to the Fiat brand, sales were up 18 percent, accounting for the best ever sales month since the Italian automobile company returned to the United States three years ago. Demand for the Abarth 500 Cabrio was up 66 percent, while sales volume of the family-oriented Fiat 500L increased by 14 percent. Fiat U.S.A. announced that the all-electric 500T and 500e models also posted sales gains this May.

Dodge - the crown jewel of the Chrysler Group, posted a modest 3 percent sales increase in May 2014, spurred by the Dart, Journey, Durango and Challenger models. The redesigned 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger could change that modest figure later this year, when both models are expected to arrive at dealers nationwide.

Last but not least, Chrysler brand sales slid 22 percentage points in May compared to the same month of 2013. The best-seller was the Town & Country model, which bumped its sales volume by 37 percent. As for the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200, more than 17,000 orders for the mid-size sedan were placed in the first two days vehicle orders were made available to dealerships nationwide.
