Chrysler has just unveiled the 200C EV concept, a brand new model that incorporates Chrysler ENVI's Range-extended Electric Vehicle technology, which makes fuel-efficiency and low CO2 emissions two of the main attributes of the car. Basically, this concept can drive up to 40 miles (64 km) in battery-only power using zero gasoline and producing zero emissions, Chrysler proudly said in a statement to the press. However, just like many other hybrids, it also uses a small gasoline engine that helps recharge the battery in order to extend the overall driving range to up to 400 miles (643 km).

“The Chrysler 200C EV concept represents the perfect blend of provocative design and leading-edge technology, as well as the new Chrysler DNA,” said Frank Klegon, Executive Vice President – Product Development, Chrysler LLC. “Chrysler’s latest concept vehicle combines the benefits of progressive, ENVI Range-extended Electric Vehicle technology – which offers nearly zero emissions during daily commutes – with a design that boasts a combination of modern shapes, a planted athletic stance with classic overtones and an undeniably luxurious interior.”

Despite the fact that details regarding the engine are only a few for the time being, Chrysler provided a rich description of
both the exterior and the interior of car, underlining that both of them are designed to be eco-friendly. The exterior color for instance, is an eco-friendly, water-base Liquid Graphite Pearl, Chrysler said, with windows tinted in a Warm Bronze “helping to reduce air-conditioning loads.”

The interior is very spacious and combines a number of colors, such as Pearl, Graphite and Leaf Green. Next-gen technology includes Chrysler's uconnect infotainment system, a touch screen that gives access to the car's connectivity options and an electronic instrument panel.

“The interior space of the 200C EV concept vehicle is defined by a modern, sculptural form and language that doesn’t sacrifice an open and spacious feel,” said Ryan Patrick Joyce, Chrysler 200C EV Lead Interior Designer. “If occupants are given the choice to take the short or long route home, I want the interior to inspire them to choose the long way.”
