Skywell has just unveiled the ultra-futuristic Skyworth Skywell concept car. If there are too many ‘skies’ which make it difficult to remember the name of the car, this will help everyone remember it: it has a giant TV in the back for the rear passengers.
The power of the Chinese market has been seriously felt in America and Europe both. For instance, out of 28 candidates for the European Car of the Year Award, 25 percent of the models still chasing the trophy were Chinese. But in the end, China only has a representative on the list of the seven finalists, the BYD Seal.

With so many electric cars from China taking Europe and America by storm, it is getting harder and harder to tell them apart. But this one right here has some features that will make it stand out. Skywell's Skyworth Skyhome (difficult to write, too, not only pronounce!) strikes a pose as a sleek-looking, curvy sedan with flowing lines. An LED strip stretches along the entire front fascia, connecting the headlights.

The rear end mirrors the front, sporting a light strip as well, with several LED segments below it. Digital side mirrors and flush door handles enhance aerodynamics. Meanwhile, a panoramic glass roof is also on the equipment list.

And it's not just the looks, as the model sports some interesting body features as well. For instance, the wings can slide backward during driving to reduce drag by 3 percent. In adverse weather or emergency situations, they can tilt up to increase resistance by 5 percent.

The car comes with a very high-tech cabin, too. A curved screen hosts the instrument cluster and infotainment display, plus the screen for the front passenger. The driver will get a yoke-style steering wheel, if this feature makes it to production.

The rear passengers will have their own entertainment hall on board Skywell’s Skyworth Skyhome. There is a gigantic, flexible screen that slides down from the headliner. Other screens are placed on the front headrests, while the backrests of the front seats sport foldable tray tables. The rear center console houses a refrigerator.

The rear seats can recline into a sleeping position and feature a massage function. Very Mercedes-Maybach-ish, we'd dare say.

The onboard system can listen, speak, see, recognize, understand, and think, being able to offer – the brand claims – emotional support. It also integrates an intelligent non-contact vital signs monitoring function, which can identify health risks in early stages. How many of these futuristic functions will make it to production remains to be seen.

The concept car, which Skywell claims is 90% representative of the future production model, is powered by two electric motors in an all-wheel drive setup, which deliver together 617 horsepower (625 PS) for a run from 0 to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.5 seconds. There is no official on the battery capacity or range yet.

The model will be available both as a two-wheel and front-wheel drive, with the latter being set in motion by a single electric motor. The air suspension and rear-axle steering are also on the menu.

The production model is expected to go on sale with prices starting at 220,000 yuan, the equivalent of $30,851 at the current exchange rates. But the moment the tech giant will unveil that production model is yet unknown.
