Missed your chance of getting one of the very few production COPO Camaros, but still want to bend some asphalt in a Chevy? You're in luck, because Chevrolet Performance will start selling a NHRA-certified Camaro rolling chassis.
Priced at $55,000, the race ready chassis comes with full NHRA-approved racing equipments, including suspension components, solid rear axle, roll cage, Bogart racing wheels, Hoosier tires, racing seats, racing switch panel, and many more. The bodies will be finished in Summit White and feature an SS front grille and production Camaro hood, window glass and lights.

No powertrain is included of course, but Chevrolet says the car can be equipped with three engines on request: a 5.7-liter V8 with 325 HP, a 6.5-liter V8 with 375 HP or a 7.0-liter V8 with 425 HP.

"This is a great opportunity to buy a factory-built foundation for a competitive Camaro race car, saving racers the time of building their own from the ground up and offering them the opportunity to compete with a piece of Chevrolet history, because we’re only going to build a few of them," said Jim Campbell, General Motors U.S. Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Add your powertrain assembly and you’ve got a race car that’s ready to tackle the drag strip."

The Camaro rolling chassis goes on sale starting March 28. The NHRA-certified dragster is supposed to produced in a limited run, but Chevy hasn't disclosed actual numbers.
