America's most popular musclecars, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang, are bound to be redesigned with standard four-cylinder engines.
Nothing new regarding the Ford Mustang, because we already knew that, but a four-cylinder-engined Chevy Camaro, as reported by Edmunds, is news for us as well.
"I think the next cycle of muscle cars are definitely going to have to offer a four-cylinder of some sort, if only for the export market. And they probably will be available for the domestic market as well," said a managing director at IHS Automotive.
That doesn't necessarily mean the end of the musclecar as we know it, but it's obviously upsetting for that rear tire-shredding fan who's still having trouble accepting a V6 as a high-performance option.
On the other hand, Dodge doesn't even want to hear about four-cylinder engines for the Charger and Challenger lineup, despite rising gasoline prices and government pressure for better fuel economy.
We'll probably hear the end of it in 2014, when Ford is planning to release a redesigned global Mustang.
