Fans eagerly await the rightfully lauded Gran Turismo 7 to make a sharp left turn from PlayStation 5 to PC with ray tracing bells and whistles during actual gameplay. But while there's no official word from Sony so far, we'll have to do with the PS5 version. Luckily, the newest update (1.46) has three new amazing rides to entice players not to delete the game yet.
The first and probably the most adored of the trio is the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 Sport Coupe you can buy from the "Legend Cars" dealership.

Chevy left quite the American legacy with the Chevelle during the '70s. It would be an understatement to say it was among the most popular models from that era, perhaps even an insult in some extremely enthusiastic circles.

The golden era of muscle cars might have started with the Pontiac GTO, but the Dodge Charger, Plymouth Road Runner, and others continued to carry the torch throughout the decade. So when the high-performance Chevrolet Chevelle SS models hit the market with the roided-out 454-cubic-inch or 7.4-liter V8 LS6 engine, the world understood the assignment.

Back in the analog days of old, there was a limit to how much fun you could have had behind the wheel. The Chevelle SS strutted 450 horsepower and 500 lb-ft (678 Nm) of torque like nobody's business, and there was no going back after that. The competition from Dodge and Plymouth powered by HEMI engines maxed out at 425 hp and 490 lb-ft (664 Nm) of torque, which wasn't something to scoff at, either, but the LS6 with its four-barrel Holley carburetor was the new kid on the V8 block that everyone wanted to make friends with.

Suffice it to say that the 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454 is favored among many muscle car enthusiasts, and hardcore fans treat its legacy with the utmost respect. Because the SS 454 LS6 is among the most desirable models, restored and well-kept survivors have been auctioned off at more than $200,000.

Next, we have Sony and Honda's love child, the AFEELA fully electric prototype. This release didn't come as a surprise to anyone, because Sony said it was coming to Gran Turismo 7 when they unveiled it during the 2024 CES (Consumer Electronics Show). They even drove it up on stage using a DualSense controller from a PlayStation 5 for gasps. The AWD AFEELA has two electric motors, front and rear, each producing 180kW of power.

Lastly, the single-seater EV Skoda Vision Gran Turismo enters the fray, inspired by the 1957 Skoda 1100 OHC Spider. It exists only within the confines of GT7's virtual pixels, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have oomph. The Skoda Vision proudly boasts two 200kW twin motors capable of outputting 800 kW or 1,071 horsepower with 752 lb-ft or 1,020 Nm of torque.

That's it for Update 1.46, now available for Gran Turismo 7. There are also some new small additions to the Scapes, Cafe, and World Circuits menus. I'd check the new circuits first, like the Japanese Clubman Cup 550/ Alsace - Village Reverse, American FR Challenge 550/Trial Mountain Circuit Reverse, and Vision Gran Turismo Trophy/Grand Valley - Highway 1, so explore at your leisure.

There's one tiny issue with this update developer Polyphony Digital is aware of. Some car settings can be changed despite being restricted in the event regulations, and wheels cannot be fitted to certain cars. The Sony 1st-party game developer studio apologized in a tweet, and fans reacted well to the studio's transparency and promptness.

Usually, when this happens, developers remain silent and try to fix the problems as "hush-hush" as possible. The thing is that players know what's happening and don't want to pretend nothing is wrong. The next Sony exclusive to hit PC is "Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut," coming to Steam on May 16 for 60 bucks. Meanwhile, we're eagerly waiting for a GT 7 PC announcement, real-time ray tracing, and all those bells and whistles included.

Codrin just loves American classics, from the 1940s and ‘50s, all the way to the muscle cars of the '60s and '70s. In his perfect world, we'll still see Hudsons and Road Runners roaming the streets for years to come (even in EV form, if that's what it takes to keep the aesthetic alive).
