Day boasts have seen a tremendous evolution from utilitarian small watercraft to yacht-like vessels with impressive exterior amenities and large aft decks that deepen the connection with the sea and are great for social entertaining. The market for luxury day boats has grown dramatically in recent years, led especially by Scandinavian, Dutch, and Italian brands.
One of the new players on the Italian shipbuilding scene is Centouno Navi, set up by designer and entrepreneur Manuela Lucchesi and naval architect Marco Arnaboldi. The Viareggio-based boat builder has just taken the wraps off a new fast dayboat called Vespro that will allow owners to make the most of the long summer days.

This is not the first model presented by Centouno Navi, as the shipyard has previously shown two other concepts - the 92-foot (28-meter) Forza and 128-foot (39-meter) Eterea. Vespro is the smallest boat in the company's portfolio, with a length of 55 feet (16.7 meters) and a beam of 15 feet (4.6 meters), and the first to be officially launched.

The newcomer, whose name translates into "dusk" or "twilight" in English, is a concentration of technology, with its design and engineering being the result of the combined experience of the company's founders. Though it is smaller than the previously presented dayboats, it features the same "custom-made" lightweight construction that uses carbon and fiberglass in a hybrid sandwich, with vinylster resin and PVC foam core.

In terms of propulsion, Vespro is equipped with twin MAN 8V 1200hp engines coupled with MJP 350X waterjets. This setup will allow the VESPRO to reach a maximum speed of 56 knots (64 mph or 104 kph) with an impressive range of 350 nautical miles (648 km) and a cruising speed of 50 knots (58 mph or 93 kph).

Moreover, Centauno Navi has also expressed its commitment to sustainability with an eco-friendly design. "Our pay-off 'Fast is green' is not just a statement but a real design choice supported by a series of eco-friendly solutions," says Manuela Lucchesi. "The PVC foams used are recycled, as are other materials that have been used in construction. Thanks to the maximum containment of weight and the particularly efficient hull shapes, consumption is considerably reduced, and the water jet propulsion respects the marine fauna often endangered by propellers."

The boat's low weight, combined with optimized mechanical performance, allowed for a self-supporting construction without structural bulkheads and with a separate floating structure that can be set up in different ways, from an open space interior layout to three cabins, depending on the owner's needs.

A classic open style has been chosen for the exterior design, with a windshield that can be retracted into the roof of the deckhouse. This will allow for complete "en plein air" navigation, a feature that is found on all Centouno Navi models. Moreover, the engine room air intakes are integrated into the sweeping aft pillars supporting the hardtop, creating a clean aesthetic.

The interiors of the first Vespro dayboat are surprisingly generous and luxurious for a boat its size, including a large saloon with a galley, a comfortable owner's cabin with a private bathroom and separate shower in the bow, a guest cabin at the aft, plus a second service bathroom.

Below the hardtop, besides the helm station, guests will find an L-shaped sofa with a dining table, a bar cabinet, and a second sofa for lounging. The aft deck is also a great place for relaxation, with a large walkaround sundeck and a swimming platform that can be extended with fold-down bulwarks and turned into a dining area. Meanwhile, the foredeck is occupied by a large sundeck and can be easily accessed from the side decks.

Vespro is expected to be launched in mid-August and make its official world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
