Car Theft Crash Course for Little, Innocent Kids

It's a dangerous world the one we live in. Criminals, terrorists, dead fish popping all over the planet, birds falling from the sky and now the threat of a second sun rising from the heavens... How soon, we dare ask, before we get an alien invasion on our hands?

Whatever the future may have in mind for us, one thing is sure. We need to be prepared. Ready to roll at the slightest sign of danger, fast and by all means. And for that to happen, a few little skill sets must be taught to all of us.

Who knows when you might need to hotwire a car and take off to escape the deadly lasers from outer space? Forget about you, what if your kid needs to do that? Shouldn't they at least know the basics of car theft?

Thank God for these two lovely fellows, Tom Jennings and Jason Torchinsky. The two have created, as part of the “Good People Doing Bad Things” project run by the Machine Project, a crash course on how to break into a car, hotwire it and even take a peak into the trunk. The lesson, of course, was intended for children living in Los Angeles.

The show-and-tell event made full use of diagrams, spoken directions and even a live example of these must-have skills in action.

Obviously, kids were excited to learn the exciting stuff and, according to BoingBoing, some even expressed their desire for regular school to be so entertaining.

Separately, 10 years from now, the police departments in the Los Angeles area are reporting a dramatic increase in the number of cars stolen.
