The Mercedes Sprinter is one of the most popular base vehicles for camper van conversion. It's currently offered in two wheelbases: 144" and 170". While it may sound logical to choose the extended version for a conversion, building a tiny home on wheels with a 144" wheelbase is certainly doable. To support this claim, I'm presenting a Sprinter conversion made by Nomad RVs.
I've previously covered some of Nomad RVs' builds here on autoevolution and soon realized this specialized company knows how to devise interiors to fit as many features as possible. Also, keep in mind that a customer has specifically requested the rig I'm discussing today.

On the outside, Nomad RVs made some modifications to the base vehicle. It boasts an off-white paint job, running boards on both sides, a roof rack holding a Maxxair fan, a Dometic A/C, a Fiamma manual awning, 350 W solar panels, and a StarLink. Another notable element is a ladder on the driver's side of the vehicle.

Pop the sliding door open, and you'll discover a well-designed interior that boasts a nautical theme. The synthetic teak floor features a compass graphic and is insulated with 0.75-inch plywood and 0.5-inch Polyiso. Moreover, the navy blue cabinetry beautifully blends with the cedar ceiling. By the way, the ceiling and walls are insulated with Thinsulate.

This Sprinter came standard with all the bells and whistles, as you'll see in the driver's cabin. It features a large display with navigation, heated swivel seats, a 360 camera, and more. Above, you'll notice a Van Wife Components headliner shelf that holds VanEssential window covers.

This camper van's customers specifically requested a larger kitchen than what Nomad RVs typically offers. This kitchen consists of a butcher block countertop, a stainless steel Dometic CRX 110 fridge/freezer, a built-in induction stove, a sink, an overhead microwave, a slide-out table, and various cabinets and drawers for storage. The sink has its own grey tank mounted in a cabinet underneath. A nice touch is that the cabinets and drawers have leather straps as handles.

Behind the kitchen, the builders installed a large window, allowing you to take in the views when cooking while letting a bunch of natural light shine inside. Furthermore, on the kitchen wall, you'll notice a display showing the status of the electrical system, two outlets, switches for the lights and water pump, and USB plugs.

On the opposite side of the kitchen, you'll discover the seating area, comprised of a spacious bench and a swivel table. There's a hidden feature in this space: a bathroom. On campers this small, you typically don't have a bathroom, maybe just a toilet. But Nomad RVs found a creative solution – the company fitted a Dometic toilet and a shower into the bench.

Preparing the shower is straightforward: lift the bench's top, mount a curtain to the ceiling via hooks, and you're good to go. The water will flow on a shower pan underneath and is then redirected into an under-mounted 11-gallon (42-liter) gray tank.

The last part of this van's living space is the bedroom, located at the rear of the interior. This customer opted not to have flares installed because they didn't need the extra sleeping space. The mattress measures 60 inches (152 centimeters) in width and 70 inches (178 centimeters) in length.

For storage, Nomad RVs mounted three huge overhead cabinets on the driver's side of the interior. One notable feature inside the bedroom is a tiny projector the customer provided, which was mounted to the wall. The builders also added a tiny projector screen on the opposite side.

In reach from the bed, on the wall next to the entrance, you'll find a small control center with switches for an Espar S2 D2 heater and for the lights, as well as outlets and USB plugs.

Finally, we have the garage, which is only accessible by opening the vehicle's rear doors. It offers a lot of storage space and holds the van's utility systems. You'll also discover a large tray in the middle.

The electrical system is on the left side, consisting of a 3,000 W Victron inverter/charger, a DC/DC charger, a solar charge controller, and 600 Ah lithium batteries. Moreover, the plumbing system features a 2.5-gallon (9-liter) water heater, a 30-gallon (114-liter) freshwater tank, and an outdoor shower.

So, how much do you have to empty out of your bank account for such a camper conversion? Nomad RVs explained that a build like the one you say today starts at $58,000 (€52,945). However, if you go for extras such as a Starlink, expect the price to be higher.

All in all, this 144" Sprinter van comes with many useful features cleverly packed in quite a compact space. If you want to learn more about the company and its conversions, check out the Nomad RVs website.
