According to a recent report, Cadillac is developing a long-wheelbase version of the ATS sedan for the Chinese market. The manufacturer plans to add 10 cm (4 inches) to the ATS’ wheelbase so that the ATS-L will go against similar offerings from BMW, Audi and Volvo.
Car New China reports that the Cadillac ATS-L will be built locally by the Shanghai-GM joint venture. Production is expected to begin in the second half of the year, while pricing will start around CNY275,000 (about $45,500). The report adds that the ATS-L will get both the 2.5-liter and 3.6-liter V6 engines, unlike the regular ATS that’s only available with the turbo 2.0-liter unit.
