Remember the ATS Coupe? Cadillac stopped production at the Lansing Grand River assembly plant in July 2019, and there’s no direct successor planned for the time being. Only the sedan has been given an heir apparent, but the CT4 lacks in the go-faster department.
Cadillac couldn’t do better than the 2.7-liter Tripower four-cylinder turbo in the CT4-V, an engine that premiered in the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck of all possible matches within General Motors. By comparison, the ATS-V packs 3.6 liters of twin-turbocharged V6 that cranks out 464 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque on full song.

Of the coupes that are still left on dealership lots, this one-of-a-kind convertible conversion with 188 miles on the odometer certainly stands out. Listed by Cadillac of Naperville for the princely price of $99,000, the car features all the bells and whistles imaginable.

Finished in Crystal White Tricoat, the one-of-a-kind ATS-V Convertible boasts a 3.73 rear axle ratio, premium surround sound from Bose, CUE with satellite navigation, a 110-volt power receptacle, lots of carbon-black and carbon-fiber parts, composite rocker extensions, and the IntelliBeam headlights. 18-inch wheels with summer-only tires are also featured, measuring 9.0 inches in terms of width up front and 9.5 at the rear axle.

Cadillac of Naperville explicitly highlights that haggling isn’t on their menu, but the question is, who would pony up so much money on an outdated car with questionable reliability and with less structural rigidity than the fixed-head coupe on which it’s based? The answer to that question is simple if you take a look at the model year, namely 2017.

Florida-based Convertible Builders LLC is the coachbuilder behind the ATS-V Convertible, a company with more than 40 years of experience and the place where the Dodge Challenger can also be converted to a canvas roof. If you were wondering how much the car used to retail after the conversion was performed in 2018, make that $102,500.

Product head Mark Reuss told the media in 2012 that the ATS Convertible is pretty much underway, but somewhere along the way, the higher-ups at General Motors pulled the plug on the third body style. Under the former chief executive officer Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac focused on the replacement for the SRX crossover and the CT6 full-size sedan.
