General Motors doesn't have to fight only Ford and Stellantis for supremacy across the US automotive market – it also needs to resist attacks from foreign automakers like Toyota.
For example, the Blue Oval company is already moving in to claim the spot left empty by the upcoming departure of the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger – especially the high-power versions like the ZL1 and Hellcat. More precisely, it already offers the 500-horsepower Dark Horse in addition to the classic Coyote V8-powered Mustang GT.

And soon it might also sell the FP800S concept package soon, taking the 480/486-hp Mustang GT to the supercharged heights of 800+ horsepower. That's well above the Camaro ZL1's 650 hp and on par with the Redeye models from the Mopar continuity, right?

Secondly, Toyota had at the same 2023 SEMA Show in Las Vegas a full roster of fantastic models – and the coolest was, of course, the Tundra-swapped, 421-hp 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 i-Force Tacoma X-Runner concept. It was created in the guise of a sports truck like the great models of the 1990s, and we really hope it will one day reach production to see if it can revive the niche.

Well, it is pretty evident that General Motors – either from Chevrolet or any other brand, doesn't have a proper answer for that if the rival automakers decide to put those monsters into production. But that, obviously, is not an issue for the imaginative realm of digital car content creators. For example, Jim, the virtual artist known as jlord8 on social media, is still meddling with all things GM from the 1980s and 1990s to the 2020s, and we are not mad about that at all.

Especially now when the pixel master has worked his courage to return to modern CGI design projects after playing with stuff like the Mk4 Toyota Supra 'Bullitt,' Pontiac Torrent GXP, Oldsmobile Bravada 442, Buick Rainier GS, or the Van National. Frankly, I like vintage stuff, but those are not exactly my cup of tea. On the other hand, the latest couple of projects changed all that.

Thus, meet the short-wheelbase Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Coupe – an obvious tribute to the second-generation Cadillac CTS Coupe V-Series; and the GMC Sonoma GT revival with old-school sports truck proportions. Naturally, it's not hard to imagine their main foes. The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Coupe would easily brawl with the Ford Mustang's upcoming Shelby options, and the GMC Sonoma GT revival would use its modern Canyon underpinnings and the lowered two-door truck stance to brawl with the Toyota Tacoma X-Runner.

Now, do you think that Stellantis should allow the Mopar team to intervene in this hypothetical brawl with something like the Hurricane-powered Dodge Charger Daytona SRT model that's rumored alongside the EV version, as well as a rebirth of the Dodge Dakota mid-size pickup truck under the Ram Trucks brand?
