For sure, no one can deny the eighth generation of the Chevrolet Corvette – aka 'America's Sports car' – is one of the best two-door models currently available for as low as $68k.
Remember, when it first appeared on sale, it was even cheaper – though not necessarily easier to modify and tune. However, no one was delighted with the official quarter-mile time of around eleven seconds at 123 mph, and the race to drop the ETs swiftly began. Currently, GM officially puts the ¼-mile time of the Corvette Z06 at 10.6 seconds, while the first-ever E-Ray might do it even better, in 10.5 seconds. But is that enough for thrill seekers?

Not exactly, of course. As such, since around 2021, we have seen enjoyable competition between various owners and aftermarket outlets (Emelia Hartford, FuelTech USA, Late Model Racecraft, or Extreme Turbo Systems) trying to bypass GM's fences to copiously modify and tune the C8 Stingray, the only variant available at the time.

If we remember the past correctly (and with a little help from our friends over at corvetteblogger.com), it was late 2020 when the first outlet cracked the 9-second mark – but Extreme Turbo Systems soon lost the title of world's fastest C8 Corvette to Emelia Hartford's C8. Her (in)famous example was nicknamed Phoenix because it kept breaking up and dying, then came back to life to improve its performance. It was the title holder for a while, eventually bringing the time down to 9.39s.

Curiously, a customer from Extreme Turbo Systems recaptured the world record with a 9.05s at 159 mph back during the summer of 2021. Meanwhile, the team at FuelTech USA quietly improved their twin-turbo to no less than 1,350 whp during the fall of 2021 before recapturing the lead and finally being the first to break into the eights with an 8.973s result at 160 mph. No worries, that wasn't the end of it.

A little later in 2022, Late Model Racecraft also claimed the record with an 8.83s pass in August – but then everyone lost interest in the C8 Stingray drag race and HP wars because the Z06 started arriving across nationwide dealerships and we refocused on the new toy. Well, the folks over at ETS (Extreme Turbo Systems) are back with a pop, bang, and a wheelie into the spotlight.

Just recently, a short but sweet video brought them and their crimson C8 Chevy Corvette Stingray on the red carpet of quarter-mile dragstrip action with an initial daylight run against a vintage Chevy Camaro that was full of attitude and a nice big wheelie. But that wasn't the main attraction if you can believe it. Instead, later during the night at the historic Texas Motorplex (which is close to Dallas and Fort Worth), their C8 Corvette performed an all-out solo pass without a wheelie, and the clock stopped at 8.64s at almost 171 mph!
