Natural gas is big business in South America where seemingly every car is offered with flexible fueling, but in the US, it hasn’t really caught on. To give buyers one last push into buying the Honda Civic Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV), Honda is offering them $3,000 gift card with fuel.
The deal is available at Honda dealers from right now until January 2nd, 2013, you’d better move fast.

The downside is that the fuel can only be bought from Clean Energy CNG, which has 150 filling stations across the US, 40 of the being in California. So basically, it’s a deal for Californian buyers.

With natural gas averaging about $2 a gallon and the Civic NGV being capable of doing 31 mph combined, you could use the free fuel to cover roughly 45,000 miles combined.

Sound like a true bargain, but the natural gas Civic is also $10,000 more expensive than the regular sedan with basically the same engine.
