Button Admits Pressure to Win Again

Even if he is currently holding a 23-point lead in the drivers' classification, British driver Jenson Button insisted he is now under more pressure to get back in the winning streak with more than half of season left to go.

Button seems to believe a driver is as good as his last result and reckons winning at the Nurburgring is vital to keep him in the favorite spot for this year's title. The Brit made it very clear that he will go for wins during the upcoming few rounds, as there is still a long way to go until taking a safer approach on his 2009 campaign.

You are never comfortable, unless you have enough points that they can't beat you in the championship. So much can happen and as soon as you have one issue everything else follows. I'd rather be winning. Every race I've been to this year I've been pretty comfortable and pretty confident in myself and the team,” said Button in a preview for the German Grand Prix.

While admitting “I'd rather be me in a Brawn than Sebastian or Mark in a Red Bull,” Button added that Red Bull's winning margin at Silverstone is a strong indicator of how much the Milton Keynes based team have progressed this year.

Also, Button argued that Mark Webber will likely be the man to beat from the Red Bull lineup, as the Australian driver has plenty of experience driving at The Ring. Sebastian Vettel will race here for the first time in his F1 career, as the circuit hasn't been part of the series' calendar since mid-2006.

In addition, Button revealed that he will rule for Webber for a race win if, of course, he will be unable to take the chequered flag on Sunday. The two are known to be very good friends ever since they drove for Benetton years ago.

We know each other quite well from the Benetton days, when he was a test driver. We have spent quite a lot of time together. For me, the person that's further behind me I'd like to win the race. I'd rather Mark wins than Sebastian. If I'm not winning, I want to be as close as I can to the front,” added Button.
