The 'cuda might be the superstar, but the Barracuda Gran Coupe is still an intriguing model, especially when flexing a complete package.
The 1971 example that made its way to eBay courtesy of seller iiman65 hopes to find a new home after struggling with the test of time for nearly three decades. The car was parked in 1994 in a garage, as the owner originally moved it to storage "in favor of a more winter-friendly car."

The seller explains that the car is at its third owner, and a friend purchased it in 1985. The Plymouth Barracuda rolled off the assembly lines with a 318 V8 under the hood, but unfortunately, it encountered a mechanical issue when crossing the Tehachapi Mountains and lost the engine.

The owner decided it was time for an upgrade, so the wrecked 318 was replaced with a 360 donated by a newer car produced in the late '80s. It's unclear if the engine still starts and runs, but the 360 was rebuilt when it made its way to the Barracuda, so fingers crossed for its working condition to stay in place.

The car was eventually moved to storage and was recently pulled in nice condition. It has plenty of options, but the seller says additional information is available on request.

Almost everything is original, except for the engine and the radio. Restoring this Barracuda to factory specifications is, therefore, still possible, though you could also stick with the existing 360 and turn the Barracuda into a daily driver.

One of the photos shows the vehicle buried alive under many boxes, and many people might be afraid that the undersides are already wrecked due to the long tenure in hiding. A video showing the Barracuda's floors and trunk panel reveals minor problems, and I must admit I'm impressed with how well the undersides resisted the test of time. The metal looks great, and you should also remove the covers to inspect the floors from the inside, but I don't think the metal will require too much work on this Gran Coupe.

The bidding for this Barracuda has reached an impressive level, as the car received over 40 bids in the first days online. The top offer is already $28,500, but the owner also enabled a reserve. The bidders couldn't unlock it, so it'll take more time for the Barracuda to find a new owner, though I'm hopeful the digital fight will continue in the remaining three days, giving the car another chance to find a home.

If you want to see the vehicle in person, you must travel to Berwyn, Pennsylvania, and you'll probably need a trailer to take it home, considering the engine condition. Bring in a good mechanic, and you should be able to get more engine information on the first inspection.
