Casey Stoner will not be present at the Honda and Bridgestonetest at Phillip Island the next spring, despite the fact that the 2-time World Champion Aussie was recently confirmed as a HRC test rider.
Shuhei Nakamoto declared that Honda will only bring their two factory riders, Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa at Phillip Island for the Marc 3-5 test. Honda will have a duo instead of a trio because a third rider means supply problems for Bridgestone.

The media was quick to blame Bridgestone for the poor tire performance during the Australian round this autumn. Though resurfaced many months before the actual MotoGP race took place, it looks like the Japanese tire manufacturer did not test their compounds on the new track.

Excessive abrasion detected in the first outings at Phillip Island caused the Race Direction to reduce the length of the Moto2 and Moto3 races and installed a flag-to-flag MotoGP round. Honda also made an impardonable mistake in Australia, which led to Marquez being back-flagged.

So it looks like both Japanese giants are making sure the 2013 Phillip Island round is a "never again" moment.
