Already one of the big athletes in Spain after becoming the youngest MotoGP World Champion ever, Marc Marquez had a Q&A session with Marca magazine.
Among top other sportsmen who barged in with their questions, including tennis star Rafel Nadal, we were thrilled to see multiple Dakar winner Marc Coma, Aspar boss Jorge Martinez and MotoGP runner-up Jorge Lorenzo.
Coma asked Marquez hoe does he see himself in 10 year's time, and the young rider replied that he hopes to remain just as he is now, racing until deciding it's time to give up.
Martinez, who represented the Motociclismo magazine, had two questions for the new champion. The first one was about the feeling of being in control so close to the limit, and Marquez replied that he often prefers to ride in such a way that he feels that limit.
It helps him be faster and be extremely focused. He added that when he rides slowly and feels a bit relaxed, he falls. And Marquez was indeed the fall champ, too.
The Martinez asked about racing other riders and clashing, and the rookie admitted it's all about racing and passing his rivals. If it wasn't for racing, things would become very boring.
Finally, it was Lorenzo with an all-technical question, as to why did Marquez lean so hard during the Valencia test, compared to his lean angles during the race.
The Repsol Honda ride replied that during the race, he knew he had to be focused and preferred not to take any unnecessary risks. After winning the world title, however, Marquez admits of having fully tasted being a champion, and tried to push the limits, already free from all the pressure.
Marquez also added some intrigue as he said “maybe it was the new bike which allowed him to lean more into the turns”. Somebody at Yamaha is surely ruminating on this last remark...
