As you’re probably aware by now, automakers are constantly looking for new ways to promote their cars. Some prefer fashion, others excel in creating high-end collectibles. BMW’s latest project involves photography, and the next international event they are backing up is Paris Photo’s third edition at the Paramount Pictures Studious in Los Angeles.
BMW has been the official partner of the prestigious art fair for three years and has been collaborating with Paris Photo for 12 years. As part of this special partnership, the Germans have recently announced their nominees for the Los Angeles event.

"Wild Style" is the new work of artists Mazaccio & Dowilal’s and is part of their new series called Antepisode. BMW claims the two have been part of the company’s Residency program, a project run in collaboration with the Nicephore Niepce Museum in Paris, which supports contemporary photography and its diffusion to the public. BMW France provides the space and support for emerging, talented photographers to produce and showcase their artwork. The program runs every year since 2011.

BMW's kick start facility for art

Through BMW Residency, artists are encouraged to spread their work to the widest audience possible by participating in different exhibitions as venues for the artists to showcase their work. They are also producing and disseminating a book and professional video that profile the artists and their work.

Think of it as some sort of a kick start facility by which BMW is getting involved in the artistic world. As we previously mentioned, Elise Mazac, alias Mazaccio, and Robert Drowilal, are bringing Wild Style to L.A. this year. The creators of the i8 say the collection is made of images of animal life on various figures and objects meant to reify animal life.

To get a better view of the artists’ work feel free to check out the press release below. In case you’re into art, you should also know the Paris Photo Los Angeles fair kicks off May 1 and runs through the 3rd, at Paramount Picture Studious.
