As BMW is getting closer and closer to releasing its tri-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel, new information on the vehicles that will be gifted with the engine appear.
On the X6 (M50d) the engine, which will develop 381 hp and a peak torque of 740 Nm (546 lb-ft), which means we’ll get 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) more than previous rumors suggested, will bring a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 4.9 seconds, which is just 0.2 seconds short of what the X6 M can deliver.
On the 5-Series (M550d xDrive), the engine will offer a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.7 seconds, while returning an average fuel efficiency of 6.3 liters per 100 km (37.3 US mpg / 44.8 UK mpg) and emitting 165 grams of CO2 per km.
The X6 M50d should enter production in April, while the M550d xDrive assembly will start in March, with sales being limited to the European market for the latter.
