BMW looks set to capture the crown of best selling luxury automaker which Toyota’s Lexus division is losing for the first time in ten years. But Mercedes and Audi are in hot pursuit, so there’s no time to stop and smell the roses, as a further 25 percent increase in sales is expected and needed in the mid-term.
"In the mid-term, we expect U.S. sales of 300,000 units for the BMW brand," the carmaker's U.S. boss, Ludwig Willisch, told Automotive News Europe.

So, no specific timeline was announced, but we’re included to believe this will take place within the next two years, as BMW has the new 1-Series and 3-Series to lean on. In addition, BMW USA is considering bringing the X1 small crossover across the pond, but this will only happen when the vehicle gets a mid-life refresh.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
