It’s a hard battle at the top of the premium market, with BMW ready to take the top spot as the biggest premium sell in America, dethroning Lexus, which has held the crown for ten years now. Its global position as leader of the segment can not be contested yet, but the number two spot is up for grabs.
According to a recent Automotive News post, Audi will take the #2 spot from Mercedes in yearly sales at the end of 2011, becoming the second largest luxury automaker. With one month to spare, the four-ringed brand is sitting comfortably on a 56,585 vehicle lead ahead of Mercedes Benz.
But it’s BMW that deserves the most praise, as with a month to go, it looks set to beat the 1,276,793 sales record dating back to 3007. With every one of these German rivals eager to become No.1 or to stay there, a heated battle is on the horizon.
