More info about the upcoming BMW M4 GTS is starting to leak. The culprit is still to blame these days, as Bimmerpost member Scott26 started making all sorts of statements about the future model.
In his latest post on the popular BMW enthusiasts forum, the man said that the car we saw testing recently on the Nurburgring will shed some more 100 kg of weight (220 lbs) off its waist, probably reaching a total of 1.3 tons in the production version. That would be almost as light as the original E30 M3 and, considering the specs it should have, it would be an absolute blast to drive.

Speaking of which, according to the same man, the M4 GTS will be the same as the current MotoGP M4 Safety Car, featuring the water injection cooling system for the turbocharged engine. That means we’ll be seeing the 3-liter inline 6-cylinder mill reach around 500 HP, which would turn this car into a proper track beast.

Other interesting details refer to the color choices that will be available for the M4 GTS. That’s right, we used plural because according to him, there will be three color choices provided for this model. That’s a welcome change of pace from the last car that wore that acronym, the E92 M3 GTS.

If memory serves me well, that hardcore track beast with a stroked 4.4-liter V8 under the bonnet was only available in Fire Orange II, which might’ve not been to everyone’s liking.

Just like its predecessor, the M4 GTS will also have a roll cage available for the interior but, it won’t be mandatory apparently, being announced as an optional feature by Scott26. The rear seats, however, will definitely be gone and we have a feeling lighter front seats will also be employed.

It all sounds nice and well thought of but how about the pricing and production numbers? The E92 GTS was built in just 150 units and the demand surpassed that figure, easily, even though the price was close to $150,000. Let’s see what BMW decides for the M4 though.
