We recently wrote and article about the Gentlemen’s Agreement on limiting top speed in Germany and we are now back on the topic to show you a random piece of tech play that sees the electronic V-max top speed limiter removed.
German aftermarket developer mcchip-dkr has recently gotten its hands on a BMW 1M Coupe, with the owner asking the company to boost the top speed of his car.
The standard value for the 1M is 250 km/h (155 mph), but the owner wanted much more than that. On the other side, safety is paramount, so mcchip-dkr set the new top speed to 290 km/h (180 mph), a value that would allow the car to get a whole new identity but still keep things safe without requiring expensive mods to other tech areas of the car.
