Proving that budget doesn’t necessarily mean basement, BMW has launched a brand new entry-level model to the 5-Series Gran Turismo range in Australia.
The model in question is the 520d GT, which joins a lineup offering only straight-six petrol and diesel engines.
The 520d is priced from AUD89,900 in Australia. It comes to market packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel with 135 kW (181 hp)and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft)of torque. This is enough to push the strange 5-Series with a boot from zero to 100 km/h (62 mpg) in just 8.9 seconds.
The expected average fuel consumption is a very respectable 5.3 liters per 100 km (44 mpg US, 53 mpg UK) on the combined Australian cycle, which is equivalent to CO2 emissions o 139 grams per kilometer.
The model comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox from ZF, start-stop technology, Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming and satellite navigation, connected to a 10.2-inch display.
Options include BMW Park Assist, a Bang & Olufsen surround sound system and the M Sport cosmetic package.
