While everyone is preoccupied with the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser and Hyundai Santa Fe, plus the first-ever, all-electric 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ and the Monterey Car Week, BMW is playing with bullet-proof stuff.
They don't need them because the ironies from critics and fans have turned into (full metal jacket) piercing arrows. They just armored the all-new 7 Series and the i7 to make them fortress on wheels for presidents, dictators, and anyone else needing extra protection.

Albeit, they did not say how much the added heft impacts range and maneuverability, especially for the already heavy BMW i7, which indicates they do not want us to know such trifle things. Frankly, we would easily let them go away with such stuff if the 7 Series and i7 weren't hideous to begin with. Of course, some folks might appreciate their quirkiness, as beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder.

But for everyone else, the BMW 7 Series and i7 are not exactly a positive example of the power of automotive design. Quite the contrary, indeed, which is why so many folks would love to see them redesigned as soon as possible. While that is not an option in the real world until the arrival of the LCI (Life Cycle Impulse – BMW's fancy term for a facelift), the imaginative realm of digital car content creators can't seem to be able to wait that long.

As such, we have seen several alternative designs for many of the controversial BMWs out there – M2, M3, M4, iX, X7, 7 Series, i7, or the mighty XM. Interestingly, most of them were miles better than the original – according to the immense pool of fans. Thus, here is yet another proposition for a different 7 Series – and it's much subtler than what we currently have on sale.

Max Shkinder, a Ukraine-born, UK-based former Senior Designer at McLaren turned virtual artist at night (aka maxshkinder on social media), has done these CGIs – and the digital project revolves around the potential redesign of the 7 Series flagship sedan in fully electric i7 form. Curiously, the pixel master didn't throw away BMW's thin-headlight narrative and instead worked that into a futuristic design that has the kidney grille outline as a much larger styling element.

Albeit, it's not going to bother anyone because it's neatly integrated into the front fascia and also the hood – and it even comes complete with signature lighting elements. The profile is not something to talk much about – it's a traditional three-volume four-door sedan, after all. At the rear, on the other hand, the CGI expert went for a clean appearance and integrated the wedge-shaped LED styling of current BMWs into the full-width taillight bar solution.

But wait, because that wasn't all. Instead, one of the CGI ideation sketches also depicts the alternatively-designed BMW 7 Series (i7) as a fully-fledged M GmbH model – as opposed to the real world's i7 M70 xDrive model that comes with 660 hp and 810 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) for a sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.7 seconds. So, now is the ripe time for you to choose. Which is more astonishing – the alternatively styled i7 M or the real world's behemoth?
