First of all, we want to make sure you understand that this DIY is for the early versions of the E46 3er, the 1999-2000 models, fitted with OBCI.
So, in case you own one of these, surely you've been facing some troubles when it came to reseting your service interval. Some say you need a special tool to do this operation but we say otherwise.
All you need is a common paper clip and maybe 2 minutes of your time. First, locatee the 20-Pin DLC Connector. You'll find it under the hood, on the passenger's side, we even attached a photo of how it looks.
Next you'll have to turn the ignition key to position 2 (that's the one just before engine start) then go back to the DLC Connector and use the paper clip we told you about earlier.
So, for oil reset just connect PIN 7 and PIN 19 for 3 seconds. For Engine Service light, do the same but for 9 seconds. That's it! Of course, you could also just ground the number 7 pin to anything else, but the 19 pin is the car's ground pin so that will work just fine. Good luck!
