The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a timeless American classic with more swagger than a disco dancer and bigger muscles than a bodybuilder flexing at Venice Beach. It’s arguably the best-looking Mustang ever made (either the Mach 1 or the Boss), and definitely the most aggressive looking ‘Stang bar none.
As soon as these babies came out, they were instant hits with their wide range of powertrain options and both styling and performance features. Just look at all those scoops and vents and pin tie-downs. This was a whole new level of cool by late 1960s standards, and even today, people still love these cars beyond belief.

You know what I just realized? The original Mustang Mach 1 is the polar opposite of a classic Bond car. It’s the perfect Bond villain car. I don’t know how nobody thought to feature it in one of these movies, but I digress.

Let’s all now turn our attention to this 1969 Mustang Mach 1 in Black Jade, getting auctioned off to the highest bidder after having been thoroughly refurbished and modified. The end-result is breathtaking. This is probably one of the 10 best-looking Mach 1 Mustangs I’ve personally ever seen – and believe me, I’m always on the lookout for these types of beauties.

Aside from the Black Jade exterior, this Mach 1 also comes with a blacked-out hood treatment, yellow-accented side stripes, the obligatory hood scoop, front and rear spoilers, rear-window louvers, quad exhaust outlets, and black 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels with 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.

The car also has power-assisted front discs, while the upper and lower control arms, springs, and shocks were all replaced during refurbishment.

Inside this Mustang you’ll find black vinyl front bucket seats and a similarly upholstered rear bench, a three-spoke steering wheel, auxiliary gauges, and a Hurst T-handle shifter (like on a 1970MY Mach 1). It’s worth noting that the factory air conditioning equipment was removed.

Let’s get down to brass tacks and talk about the engine. It’s not an original unit (it used to have a 351 ci V8), but I doubt this car’s next owner will mind, seeing as how power now comes from a replacement 408 ci stroker V8.

It’s been fitted with an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and cylinder heads, a Brawler four-barrel carburetor, a COMP Cams camshaft, roller rocker arms, MSD ignition control module, a single-wire alternator, a mini high-torque starter, polished valve covers, full-length custom exhaust headers and Flowmaster mufflers for the dual exhaust system.

Just how much power is this Mustang generating? The ad would suggest 450 horsepower, with everything going to the rear wheels via a Tremec TKO-600 five-speed manual gearbox. If that’s indeed what’s being put down, then we might have to find this baby a spot among the Top 5 nicest 1969 Mach 1 Mustangs ever seen.
