Apple joined the Black Friday party with an early deal for the AirTag, the device that has lately become a must-have gadget for car owners worldwide.
The AirTag uses a CR2032 battery to offer up to six months of battery life per unit, so once you install a tracker in a hidden spot, you can forget it's there.

It's the reason AirTags are so popular among car owners. Many people plant AirTags in their cars in case they get stolen, with the device allowing them to retrieve almost real-time location information and report it to the police. AirTags connect to nearby iPhones to broadcast its location to the owner, so as long as it can detect an Apple smartphone in proximity, it can reveal its location in the Find My app running on the owner's device (be it smartphone, tablet, or computer).

If you're looking for tips on where to hide an AirTag in your car, I recently published a story highlighting the five best places where the tracker is difficult to spot by a thief. If you have more suggestions, the comment box after the jump is all yours.

Like other Apple devices, the AirTag isn't the most affordable product, but if you were waiting for a chance to get it at a lower price, Black Friday 2023 is the right moment.

The AirTag has just hit the lowest price since launch, as it's available as part of the Black Friday sale with a $23.99 price tag. It's a 17% discount, down from $29. The four-pack version received a 19% price cut, so it can be yours for a limited time for $79.99, down from $99.

If Apple's tracker isn't your favorite cup of tea, maybe you want to try Tile, an alternative tracker with similar capabilities but more advanced technology based on a premium plan. The parent company guarantees it'll find your tracker no matter what and reimburse you if the device is lost. You can get the Tile Mate for $17.99 (down from $24.99).

Naturally, Apple discounting the AirTag price led to massive price cuts on accessories. Belkin joined the Black Friday fun with a 25% discount for its standard AirTag holder, available today for $14.99. The black version, which sports a strap to double as a keychain, is 38% off and sells for $8.10. The AirTag holder sporting a carabiner is cheaper, too, offering increased durability. It's an excellent choice for luggage when flying overseas, and it can be yours for $11.62. It's a 42% discount, as the device typically carries a $19.99 price tag.

Apple believes every AirTag should come with a premium holder, so the company also offers a discount for the FineWoven key ring holder. The price is 9% down, so the holder costs $31.99.

Apple also cut the price of the (PRODUCT)RED leather loop made of European leather for a premium look and feel. The accessory typically costs $39, but it can be yours as part of the Black Friday sale for $29.66 (down 24%).

Otterbox, which makes great accessories for Apple devices, sells the sleek tracker case for the AirTag with a 25% discount, so you can get the 4-pack for just $29.96.

AirTags can come in handy when trying to keep an eye on your bike, too, though you'll need the right accessory to hide the device. typecase sells its bike mount, which has a dedicated slot for an AirTag, with a 56% discount, so the gadget costs $15.99.

Case Mate knows the AirTag can double as a pet tracker, so its dog collar holder looks good, feels comfy (ask your dog, and it'll confirm), and always stays in place. It costs $5.99, down 60% as part of the Black Friday sale.

An AirTag would be worth nothing without a long-lasting battery. Unfortunately, cheap CR2032 batteries that cost less than $1 invaded the market, sometimes offering less than one month of battery life per unit. It's why you should always use high-quality batteries on your AirTag, including this six-unit pack from Energizer. It's 35% off today, costing $7.49 as part of the Black Friday 2023 sale.

Duracell cut the price of its 6-unit pack by 53%, meaning you can buy the CR2032 batteries for just $8.24. And last but not least, Panasonic has a two-battery pack at $5.55, down 31%.

All these batteries should provide approximately six months of battery life, similar to the original unit that comes with the device. However, you should replace the battery more frequently, especially if you use it for tracking your car. If the vehicle gets stolen, you don't want the AirTag to run out of battery, so make sure the tracker always has enough juice to broadcast its location. Removing the battery is the only way to disable an AirTag, so always plant it where the thief can't observe it.
