Bentley has issued a recall for the Bentayga, which targets a potential issue that might become disturbing over the years.
The British manufacturer has conducted a routine check of its equipment and logs, and the inspection found that the system that stores the values for the tightening torques for the joints of the seats and the dash had missing data or implausible values.
Bentley quickly inspected the vehicles that were within its control, and discovered that there is a risk of improper torque on the bolts of some joints in Bentayga models.
The affected units were produced between March 01, 2016, and September 30, 2016. Bentley says that no accidents or injuries have occurred because of this problem, but there is a slight possibility that those joints might loosen over time.
Bentley wants to make sure that the described scenario does not happen, because it could lead to an increased injury risk to the occupants if the vehicle is involved in a crash. Bentley representatives will notify customers of the affected vehicles. According to the brand from Crewe, a Bentayga that is affected by this problem would create noise or vibration during driving.
Since we are talking about Bentley, the seats and dash might not move at all at the moment, but the company wants to make sure that the precise torque specifications will be used for the bolts.
The automaker stated that the factory has already implemented a check for missing system data into the production line, which is supposed to prevent issues like these from reappearing.
In the case of the 2017 model year of the Bentayga, Bentley says that 88 units are involved in the USA, but the Brits at Autocar have a larger number of cars that will be recalled on a global scale. In the case of Great Britain, 239 units will be expected for service at a Bentley dealer, while 1.619 vehicles are affected on a global scale.
