On July 10, 2019, British marque Bentley will be celebrating its 100 anniversary. A century of motoring that started with machines that impressed while taking on various hill climbs and races in the early days of the automobile, and will continue, how else, with electric powertrains.
Officially, the carmaker’s stance on electrified motoring is that hybrids - spearhead for them by the Bentayga hybrid - are better than full EVs. Back in April, Bentley’s executive in charge with engineering told Autocar that “it is by no means certain that battery-electric is the right way to go.”

Yet, this July Bentley is expected to fully reveal its strategy for the next century. And by the looks of it, electric cars, and even autonomous ones, are considered just as much as all others.

The Brits announced on the first day of July that their centenary celebration will include the reveal of the future of grand touring, a car that is both electric and fully autonomous. The car is called EXP 100 GT.

“A physical embodiment of the future Bentley brand, and created in the company’s centenary year, the Bentley EXP 100 GT is a transformative zero-emissions concept car that will inspire extraordinary human experiences through a perfect blend of technology and craftsmanship.” the carmaker says in its statement.

There are no details available on what this car is really about. Bentley, as usual, rambles on about the level of “handcraftsmanship” and the quality of the materials used for the build, but no useful information is actually provided.

They do promise however the car was built in such a way as to enhance the owner’s “grand touring experience” regardless of whether a human is in actual control of the car or it drives itself.

Throwing the word “owner” in the mix suggests Bentley does plan to make something of this concept sooner or later.
