Audi Trademarks New Names

Audi's relentless expansion seems unstopable 1 photo

With almost 500,000 cars sold since the start of the year, Audi is on a bit of a roll. The new sales figure marks a 12% increase compared to the same period last year, with revenues rising to €12,4 ($16) billion.
This promising turn of events is probably one of the reasons behind their planned expansion. They are planning on introducing no fewer than 18 new models or improvements on existing models by the end of the year, among which the S3, RS6 Avant and a revamped R8 stand out.

However, Audi have already filed the papers to protect the Q6, Q8, R6, S2, S9, RS1 and RS8 names for future usage. They have not stopped there, and have also trademarked “e-gasoline”, “e-diesel” and “e-benzin”, names which will be used in their green department.

We're not sure how many of these will materialize or when this will happen, but Audi is making sure that when they do decide to build them, legal issues will be the least of their worries.
