The Audi RS5 has received quite a lot of marketing efforts from the mother ship recently, with the car being constantly brought to the public’ s attention. Now, the carmaker is continuing this process, as the uber coupe will be entered in Italy’s 2012 International Superstars Series.
The racing incarnation of the vehicle won’t be brought to far from the one we get on the street. Three teams will each run an example of the racer, with the scheme being supported by Audi Italia.
As for the teams, we’ll start with MTM Motorsport (yes, the famous Audi tuner’s team), with Thomas Schoeffler behind the wheel, which is followed by Audi Sport Italia, which uses Gianni Morbidelli as the leading driver (the team has won two championships with the Audi RS4 in the 2007 and 2008 seasons) and last, but not least, Kristofferson Motorsport (KMS) from Sweden.
The 2012 season will see the RS5 compete against challengers drom BMW, Mercedes, Chevroler and Cadillac, as well against its RS4 parent, with the hostilities set to kick off on April 1st at Monza.
