Audi recently announced it will debut a test program for the A3 e-tron in the US, with the initiative set to see engineers as well as technical experts driving the model in a large variety of areas, in order to see if it copes with their specific demands.
Audi not only wants to test the car and learn lessons that will be used for future EVs, but also wants to see what the customers want from such a vehicle.
"The A3 e-tron pilot program serves as an important innovation platform for Audi to develop greater insight into electric vehicles and how American driving conditions affect use of the progressive technology in everyday life," said Jeff Curry, e-mobility and sustainability strategy lead at Audi of America. "We will integrate the data generated from this program into the launch of a range of Audi e-tron models for American drivers."
The Audi A3 e-tron comes with 136 hp and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) of torque, relies on a 26 kw Li-ion battery pack and offers a range of 90 miles (145 km), with the same figure being used for the top speed., while the 0 to 62 mph sprint takes 11.2 seconds.
