Audi RS5 Gets Floored Away From Toll Booth

The Audi RS5 is arguably one of the better looking cars to bear the four circles on its front grille, and while it is still bland compared to similar offerings from other manufacturers, we say it ranks higher than pretty much any other model in the Ingolstadt carmaker’s lineup.
However, it’s not the looks that make the RS5 special, as that ‘job’ is left to its 4.2-liter V8 engine, which produces 450 hp at 8250 rpm, as well as 430 Nm of torque between 4000 and 6000 rpm, without the use of a turbocharger. It is clearly not a low-revving and lazy V8, with its 8,500 rpm redline, it is the kind of engine you need to push hard to get the most out of it. It also sounds very good, and very racy at high engine speeds, while being burbly and smooth lower in the rev range.

If acceleration is what you’re after, then the RS5 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 4.5 seconds (in pretty much any weather, thanks to its Quattro all-wheel drive system) will definitely satisfy you, while its seamlessly-shifting seven-speed gearbox will make you feel like you are at the helm of a real racing car, which despite having 1725 kg to lug around is still extremely quick and surprisingly good-handling for what it is.
