Audi sold 1,003,900 vehicles since the beginning of the year and until the end of November, an increase of some 500 cars over the entire year 2008. Compared to 2009, the sales figure is 15.3 percent higher.
“The number of orders received in Germany continues to rise, especially in the important fleet customer market. At the same time the Audi A1 is generating plenty of interest among our private customers,” said Peter Schwarzenbauer, Audi member of the board for Marketing and Sales.
“Despite the high growth of recent months in China, Germany will once again win the head-to-head race among our biggest markets in 2010.”
Just like its German competitors, Audi now records both exponential increase in China and high volumes in the country. The car maker sold in the 11 months that have passed since the beginning of the year, for the first time in history, over 200,000 vehicles in China.
The positive trend has have also been maintained in Europe, where Audi posted increase in most markets, except the Western part of the continent. Here, the 3.7 percent decrease has somewhat shadowed the good performance worldwide (the decrease is the result of the negative performance in the UK, where Audi registered a 13.3 percent drop in November).
In the US, the car maker has decided it will try to sell over 100,000 vehicles in a year for the first time.
