Designing and building an under 50-meter (164-foot) luxury explorer yacht fitted with all the amenities and functionalities modern yachtsmen have come to expect without exceeding the 500 gross tonnage limit is no mean feat. Italian yacht designer Hydro Tec has just accomplished the first part of the process with the creation of the Sagasu superyacht concept.
The Sagasu project is the first fruit of Hydro Tec's strategic collaboration with their new partner for the APAC (Asia Pacific) regions, Adam Blackmore, the co-founder of Hong Kong-based Iseo Yachting Limited.

This explains both the Asian influences in the design and the choice of name for the new yacht. In Japanese, the Sagasu name means to search for something necessary and desired. And it isn't coincidental either, as it symbolizes the philosophy underlying the project - the desire for exploration and discovery of new horizons.

The greatest thing about the design is that it offers the volume and functionalities of larger vessels without going over the 500 GT limit, successfully incorporating all the characteristics of an explorer yacht.

The first renderings revealed by the Italian studio showcase a 48-meter (157-foot) yacht concept with an alluring profile characterized by elegant and sinuous lines. For the exterior, the designers combined classic and traditional traits with elements of modernity, obtaining a balanced fusion of elegance and dynamism.

The yacht concept is also notable for its extensive use of glass. As contemporary yacht designs increasingly embrace the idea of a seamless connection with the ocean, the incorporation of floor-to-ceiling windows has become a feature in high demand. There is no other material that connects and separates at the same time. However, the use of glass is not only a style statement but also a way to extend the indoors to the outdoors and offer improved views of the surroundings.

The designers of Sagasu made sure to follow this design trend. A standout feature of this vessel is the design of the flush windows on the hull, which create a suspended central island wrapped in glass. Moreover, the yacht seems to include glass railings around its aft deck areas.

It has been configured with four different layouts to offer flexibility in terms of length and volume, and future owners will also be able to further customize it based on their preferences.

But regardless of the chosen layout, a main focus in the design process was to create generous outdoor spaces for guests to enjoy both in the aft and bow sections. There is an expansive beach club area that can be significantly extended by deploying the fold-down terraces over the water. Guests onboard will be able to enjoy not one but two large swimming pools (a plunge pool on the bow and an infinity pool aft), large sunbathing areas, and modular seating arrangements for outdoor relaxation and socialization.

There is no word on the total accommodation capacity, but it is likely not to pass 12 guests. However, Hydro Tec mentions that the owner will benefit from a private master suite with floor-to-ceiling windows, an integrated 70-square-meter terrace, and a private jacuzzi.

In terms of interior design, the renderings show a contemporary aesthetic with minimalist furniture, integrated lighting, and a neutral color palette of white, beige, and blue. On-trend furniture and decor items complete the guest spaces onboard.

The yacht's rescue tender and customized exploration tender will be stored in the garage area at all times, meaning they won't hinder guests from enjoying the outdoor areas even when the yacht is in port.

Talking about the result of the collaboration with Iseo Yachting, Sergio Cutolo, President of Hydro Tec, has shared, "I am extremely satisfied with the recently concluded agreement with our new strategic partner, Adam Blackmore, Co-founder of Iseo Yachting, and the business opportunity that this collaboration opens for our company. The expansion of our business into new markets, with a particular focus on Hong Kong and Asia, represents a significant step in our growth. This step is an integral part of our strategic expansion plan that will further consolidate our position in the industry."
