To be perfectly honest, right before you start reading this, you should know that I’m a big fan of Archer. He might not be the brightest secret agent in the world but he’s committed and doesn’t give up easy, even though he doesn’t find the quickest way out every time.
This week, on the Conan O’Brien show, Archer Sterling was invited to make a short appearance. However, since he’s usually a magnet for trouble, things didn’t exactly go as Conan imagined.
The TBS host was just about to invite Sterling on the stage when his phone (that basically is a prop and never rang since the show has been on air) started ringing. As it turns out, his guest was involved in a very dangerous situation and needed some help. Or not. My guess is Archer knew that he was in trouble and just used O’Brien to help him out.
Arriving in a classic ’68 Mustang, he didn’t have too much time to explain what was going on before presumably Russian mobsters showed up in a four-door Galaxie. Already sitting inside the car, Conan had to get to work.
The whole scene is rather funny and the conversation goes exactly as it is in the animated show, Conan basically providing the voiceover flawlessly. By the time the mobsters get blown up in a K5 Blazer, things are downright hilarious between the two protagonists.
That’s basically why I’m one of the fans of this show: the dialogues. Another one is the usage of vintage cars all over, every time the creators get the chance. Too bad that in the end, due to Conan’s clumsiness Archer’s Mustang is nearly blow to pieces...
