“Fernando Alonso left Maranello late this afternoon after a day and a half of Formula 1 work as well as filming and promotional activity,” announced Ferrari in the media release on Sunday.
The session took place at Fiorano circuit and included a group of Ferrari owners being present at the track to test-drive their cars. According to Ferrari's statement, they “got to drive around the Fiorano track with the added bonus of doing so with a special “teacher” who just happens to be a double Formula 1 world champion.”
“At the same time, Fernando also did a few laps of the track at the wheel of the F10 for promotional purposes, filming not only for partners of the Reds but also for some novel features (...) Even though he only completed very few kilometres, further limited by the demands of the film script, it was nevertheless Fernando's debut at the Fiorano circuit at the wheel of a Ferrari Formula 1 car: you have to make the most of any opportunity in this era of the testing ban!” added the statement.
As revealed after their horrible weekend in Turkey, Ferrari will debut a completely revised F10 in Valencia, featuring a brand new exhaust configuration and new rear suspension. Although some other elements will be fitted to the car, it is believed the new exhaust system will contribute the most to gaining some ground on the championship front-runners, as it's set to increase the downforce level of the car.
Consequently, Ferrari's F10 is expected to be at least 0.5 seconds quicker per lap starting the European GP. A promotional film of the session is to be released by Ferrari on their official website in due time.
