Buick produced approximately 70,000 Electra 225 units for the 1964 model year, with the company now offering the car in five body styles.
The two-door sport coupe and sedan were the most popular, but the convertible also witnessed increasing production numbers despite the heftier price tag.

The 1964 model year brought several notable changes to the Electra 225 lineup, including from an engine perspective. The standard engine on the Electra between 1959 and 1966 was the famous Buick 401, but the GM brand wanted to provide customers with a more powerful choice.

The 1964 refresh included a 425 with 360 horsepower, offered alongside the Super Turbine 400/THM 400 transmissions. It was a welcome performance upgrade that made the Electra 225 a more solid option for customers interested in a full-size car, especially as Buick also revised the standard equipment across the lineup. Electric wipers, power windows on the convertible, and courtesy lights were now standard on the Electra.

The Electra posted on eBay by seller phantomcaddy rolled off the assembly lines with the 425 under the hood. The same engine is in the car today, starting, running, and driving perfectly.

The convertible comes in great shape despite still requiring occasional subtle repairs, such as on the seats. They come with minor cracking, but they shouldn't be too difficult to bring back to a flawless condition. The window also has a crack, the power seat doesn't work, and that's pretty much everything you'll have to repair on this Electra.

Everything else is in working condition, with even the top coming in nearly perfect shape.

It's hard to find something to complain about on this Electra, and it's impressive the car passed the test of time in such a condition. The owner doesn't mention a previous restoration, and considering it's still original, I doubt this convertible has ever been the subject of a full overhaul. However, you should at least check the paint, as it looks really good, so a previous respray is not out of the table.

Otherwise, the Electra 225 convertible looks like a genuine head-turning machine that would become a great companion on a sunny Sunday. Unsurprisingly, it won't sell cheaply, though you could get it a little cheaper if you're lucky. The owner wants $15,650 for the car, but they posted it for auction on eBay. A reserve is in place, and it's unclear if it has the same value as the Buy It Now price.

The digital fight starts at $5,000, but the Internet must go much higher to unlock the reserve. Meanwhile, you can find this Electra waiting for a new home in Carroll, Iowa, and you should be able to drive it home on its wheels, considering its beautiful shape and the perfectly working engine.
