Do you consider the Palisade old? We don't, but in today's fast-moving industry, automakers need to ensure that their popular products stay up to date. As a result, Hyundai is preparing the second generation of its flagship crossover.
Set to replace the current one, which will soon turn six, the all-new Hyundai Palisade made its scoop debut last month. More recently, our spies caught another glimpse of it; this time, they could immortalize the interior for the first time.

Many vinyl stickers were wrapped around the center console and door cards, and most of the dashboard was under wraps. However, we can still see the new dual-screen layout, with the displays for the infotainment system and digital gauge cluster resting behind a single pane of glass. Clearly, the Korean company hasn't ditched the physical buttons, and the steering wheel looks similar to that of the smaller Santa Fe.

Regarding the mid-size crossover, designers used it as inspiration for the exterior. Thus, it is expected to look like an oversized variant of its smaller sibling, likely with a similar lighting signature at both ends and a boxy overall appearance. It looks sharper than before, though due to the thick fake skin applied to this tester, it is impossible to make out the details yet. Nevertheless, it will grow slightly, meaning it will be even more spacious and have a larger trunk area.

Hyundai's second-generation Palisade will allegedly use a different platform and is believed to have a longer wheelbase. We couldn't tell you anything about it for now, but the same construction should be adopted by its sibling from Kia, the Telluride. The same goes for the powertrain family, too, which is understood to comprise a 3.5L V6 with forced induction that will replace the current V6, perhaps joined by a 2.5L unit with partial electrification, likely with an eight-speed auto ‘box driving the wheels (standard FWD and optional AWD).

It should be a while until the upcoming Palisade goes on sale. Chances are the current one will enter the 2025 model year with a few minor adjustments and, who knows, higher prices across the range. The all-new one should be ready sometime next year and should go on sale as a 2026 model. Look for improved tech features, new safety gear, and a more refined driving quality from the company's flagship high-rider, as well as a similar approach for Kia's next-gen Telluride that should also be in the making.

The 2024 Palisade comes in the SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night trim levels, carrying a starting price of $36,400. The most expensive version of the series can be ordered from $53,600. All versions feature a 3.8L V6 with 291 hp (295 ps/217 kW) and 262 pound-foot (355 Nm) of torque.
