Chevrolet was GM's backbone for last year's sales performance – the largest US automaker was also crowned with the best-selling title in 2023 with 2.6 million units against Toyota's 2.24 million and Ford's almost two million deliveries.
It's not hard to understand why Chevy is the top contender in GM's family – its Chevy Silverado series was second only to Ford's eternal F-Series in the fight for the nameplate title in America. Also, while it's slowly giving up on passenger cars – now there's only the Malibu and C8 Corvette defending the honor – its crossover, SUV, and truck lineup is wholly refreshed.

In fact, all nameplates have received a facelift or all-new generation over the past two years, and the 'upcoming' list is brimming with novelties – all-new 2024 Traverse, all-new 2025 Equinox, Equinox EV, Silverado EV, plus the redesigned 2025 Tahoe and Suburban full-size siblings.

The latest introduction comes in the form of the 2025 Equinox compact crossover SUV, which received a design overhaul in line with the Trax, Trailblazer, Blazer, and especially the big Traverse CUV. It will arrive in America with a new Equinox Activ trim to make it more rugged, three distinct styles for each grade, and a driver cockpit that's finally up to par with the times – consisting of an 11-inch configurable driver information center and a new 11.3-inch Google built-in infotainment display.

Equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo packing 175 hp and a CVT with FWD or an eight-speed auto with AWD, the 2025 Equinox is a capable little CUV that doesn't shy away from towing up to 1,500 pounds (680 kg) when equipped with all-wheel drive. However, there's a big chance that, especially in RS trim, it will dwell around town a lot more than the countryside.

As such, it is no wonder that some folks will never get it off the beaten path of good city tarmac. For them, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators has already found a solution to make it ritzier. For example, Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks now is the right CGI time to make the new Equinox RS a little sportier with a massive set of Y-spoke aftermarket wheels and a subtly lowered suspension setup.

However, there's a question to be asked – will that be enough to help it face off with the high-selling Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V? Starting at $28,675 for the 2024MY with a 2.5-liter good for 203 hp, the former was America's fourth best-selling vehicle in 2023 with almost 435k units. The latter, costing from $29,500 for 2024 MY with a 190-hp turbo mill, was not too shabby either – sixth place with 361,457 deliveries! So, if you had to choose, which would be your favorite – the all-new 2025 Equinox or one of the other foes?
