Big stars and flashy cars go together like peanut butter and jelly unless that star is '90s icon Alyssa Milano. She was recently photographed with her brand-new electric Porsche, and she's already under heavy fire on social media.
In recent years, Alyssa Milano has chosen to use her voice and her platform for activism, both as part of her work with UNICEF and for whatever cause she believes in and personally decides to back. It's her activism that landed her in hot waters repeatedly in recent years because, as we all know too well, you can never please everyone.
This time, it's different. Last week, Milano made headlines after asking for donations on a popular donations platform to send her son's Little League baseball team on a trip to Cooperstown, Ohio. Criticized for asking for money from her fans, she said she'd personally donated to the team but couldn't afford to cover all the expenses of the trip.
Just two days later, she stepped out in Los Angeles at the wheel of a car whose custom paintjob alone would have covered those expenses. So she's being criticized online for being a hypocrite, the worst kind of Hollywood celebrity who spends $200,000 on a car but then expects the fans to cover the expenses for her son's team's trip.
All that noise aside, at least she has excellent taste in cars.
The ride that got Milano in such hot water is a 2023 Porsche Taycan 4S, an electric vehicle capable of impressive performance – Milano has been a supporter of electric vehicles since the early days of the industry. You'll probably recall that she was also a very passionate Tesla fan and, later on, customer before getting into a public spat with Elon Musk and declaring that she would no longer support him or any of his businesses.
Milano ditched the Tesla at about the same time and said she'd replaced it with a Volkswagen ID4. It doesn't look like she kept it for too long, or at least she bought another one for those days when she might want to feel a bit fancier – the Porsche.
A 2023 Taycan 4S starts at $105,000, but Myron Grombacher, Internet Sales and Lease Retention Manager at Porsche Woodland Hills, tells one media outlet that Milano's is the fully loaded version with some custom touches as well. They include that gorgeous green paintjob, which is British Racing Green and is only available as a Paint to Sample option that's $20,000 on its own. In total, Milano's new set of wheels could have set her back almost $200,000.
It's not a fortune for an actress worth an estimated $2 million who also happens to be married to a hotshot CAA agent (one of the biggest agencies in Hollywood), but it's clearly too much for an actress asking for donations for a kiddie baseball trip online.
