The first BMW M5 was born in 1984 based on the E28 BMW 5 Series, and this year, the high-performance executive series will celebrate its fortieth anniversary. So, what better way to honor its ancestors than to come up with a new iteration?
Everyone and their mother are currently waiting to see what BMW has in store for the next M5, the seventh by its name – especially since Mercedes-Benz already has a new E-Class on the market, the Audi A6 (e-tron) and A7 are coming fast, and BMW has already unleashed the regular 5 Series and all-electric i5 to a varied commercial, critical, and fan reception.

Some have praised the subtler tone of the 5 Series and i5 compared to the 7 Series and i7, for example, while others still aren't satisfied by the looks of the mid-size executive sedan and station wagon. Luckily, BMW has something cooking to appease the detractors – the upcoming M5, especially the M5 Touring, which is allegedly going to America to fight the Audi RS 6 Avant and the future RS 7 Avant. All we have to do is wait and see what's under the skin, right?

However, due to a multitude of teasers, spy photos, and leaks, many of us already feel that the G90 BMW M5 is a bit more than familiar, even though its official presentation hasn't occurred yet. Even funnier, some people are taking matters a bit further with ideas about how to mix the unreleased M5 with the goodies from the aftermarket realm. Some, as they are part of the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, can also envision the looks of the tuned BMW M5 in advance.

For example, Magnus, a Munich-based German digital creator (magnus.concepts or mgns.dsgn on social media), has imagined the tuned orange looks of the G90 BMW M5 after previously envisioning the high-performance PHEV V8 executive sedan rocking the tarmac of a virtual racetrack and then even fading out of camouflage into the hypothetical series production looks. No worries, we have embedded those posts below, too, for our guilty M pleasure.

The latest idea he had about the BMW M5 now includes a conspicuous orange paint that allows a nice contrast against the black tuning parts and a quick video reel envisioning the big plug-in hybrid V8 sedan in a more traditional habitat – coming from a highway onto a CGI bridge. So, what do you think? Is the Bavarian company coming out with the M5 looking like in these unofficial renderings, or is the virtual artist a bit too optimistic about the behemoth sedan, which allegedly is fatter than an elephant according to the latest whispers coming from across the rumor mill?
