Alguersuari Will Be at War with Buemi in 2011

Jaime Alguersuari may not be in the same tough spot as Sebastien Buemi prior to the 2011 Formula 1 campaign, but things are hardly too different when it comes to his position within the Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Although Buemi is pressured to deliver some great results in 2011 due to his more extended experience in F1 – approximately half of season more than the Spaniard – the fact that STR appointed “new kid on the block” Daniel Ricciardo as reserve driver for the upcoming season means one thing: he who won't perform this year will be replaced.

This year will be war between Buemi and me,” predicted Alguersuari in a recent interview with Spain's Marca newspaper.

According to the 20-year old racer, the battle between the two will not only be about who will get to keep his job for 2012, but also about who will get to graduate to Red Bull Racing. Mark Webber is racing on a early contract for the Austrian team and Alguersuari seems to think his position will be up for grabs a year from now.

I am surely competing with him (Buemi) this year to be the one who will go to Red Bull (in 2012), with Ricciardo to get one of our seats.”

As far as the upcoming F1 title battle goes, Alguersuari predicts a two way battle from beginning to end between Ferrari and Red Bull, tipping Fernando Alonso with the best chances of beating the Red Bull duo.

For me, the most complete driver is Fernando Alonso. However, Red Bull are able to take advantage with their car. I think it will be a game between those two, Red Bull and Ferrari, from the beginning to the end,” he added.
