As a brief reminder, Tipo 952 is the codename Alfa Romeo uses for an upcoming sedan. Only recently, Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles NV’s Sergio Marhionne told the media that the Alfa Romeo 159 successor will make its debut on June 24th, 2015, the day that marks the Italian brand’s 105th birthday.
According to a recent report citing insider info, the Giulia nameplate didn’t get the green light for the highly-anticipated Alfa Romeo sedan. Considering the current model range except for the 4C coupe features fancy names like MiTo and Giulietta, we suspect that the automaker won’t go for numerals.

With the upcoming four-door sedan’s name still a mystery, let’s use Tipo 952 instead of Giulia until Alfa Romeo will go public on how it has decided to baptize the compact executive car. As you can see in the photo gallery below, our spy photographers got to snap a few stills of a weird-looking pre-production mule winter testing in northern Sweden.

Hiding under a chopped Maserati Ghibli body shell, the Alfa Romeo Tipo 952 spied appears to adopt a twin-turbo V6 petrol engine from Maserati, as well as quad exhausts at the rear. Although the interior hasn’t been photographed on this occasion, our carparazzi spied this very Tipo 952 mule in August.

The cabin is cobbled together, featuring a Jeep steering wheel with paddle shifters and automatic transmission gear lever, a DNA selector and cheaper-looking gauges than those of the Maserati Ghibli.

These elements don't offer a good enough glimpse at what to expect from the model, but it’s obvious the rear doors of the faux Ghibli were chopped, while the low profile rubber is shoehorned on OZ wheels.

Don’t know about you, but the Tipo 952 will certainly be miles more enticing than the defunct 159.
