The Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce fills the gap between the mighty Quadrifoglio with its Ferrari-tuned engine and the regular sedans. But aftermarket exhaust specialists Remus thought they could do a better job than the Italians and put together an axle-back system.
The Veloce is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo which shares its injection technology and variable-geometry turbocharging with the regular model. However, it produces 80 HP and 70 Nm more. Alfa Say it's as fast as the famous BMW 340i, which uses a much bigger and more powerful turbocharged 3.0-liter.
Remus added another 3.2 horsepower and 12.4 Nm of torque with its clean-breathing pipes. Those aren't big numbers, but an ECU tune could also help. Despite having a hat hatch kind of engine, the Veloce doesn't sound like a hot hatch at all.
When changing gears, the exhaust doesn't pop like a GTI or Focus ST. Instead, it produces a constantly rising snarl all the way to its red line, making using those oversized paddles and 8-speed gearbox a real pleasure.
The factory-fitted exhaust tubes are 65mm in diameter, and Remus only went a little bigger with 70mm pipes. They can be installed in combination with the original exhaust outlets or using the optional tip set. The carbon accessories measuring 102mm in diameter can clearly be seen in the video. And the good news is that it all mounts to the factory points with no bumper modifications required.
Pricing? Well, that depends on what you want. The axle-back system costs €552, while the non-resonated racing cat-back is €534. But we're not sure why you would want the latter on a luxury sedan. There's also a resonated cat-back costing €774. For every system, the carbon tips are another 500 euros on top. Every part is hand-made in Austria and comes with a 36-month warranty for peace of mind.
